About us
Our trajectory
Serveis Clínics is a leading social and health centre in Catalonia specialising in the care of people with tuberculosis. Since its creation in 1993, we have worked in coordination with the public health system to offer comprehensive care based on clinical expertise, proximity and commitment to people.
With more than 30 years of experience, we have developed a care model that combines social and health care, community monitoring, research and innovation to respond to the clinical and social challenges associated with tuberculosis.
1993. The origins of Serveis Clínics
Founded in 1993, Serveis Clínics became a publicly funded healthcare provider serving the public health system. Its establishment coincided with the World Health Organization’s (WHO) declaration of tuberculosis as a global public health emergency and the widespread adoption of the DOTS (Directly Observed Treatment, Short-course) strategy as a cornerstone for improving treatment adherence and patient outcomes.
1995. Establishment of the ETODA
In 1995, the ETODA (Outpatient Directly Observed Treatment Team) was established to make treatment more accessible by delivering care in patients’ usual environments. This service provides treatment administration and supervision at home, in the workplace and in other community settings, while ensuring privacy, confidentiality and continuity of care.
2000. Specialization in situations complexes
From 2000 onwards, with the emergence of resistant forms of the disease, Serveis Clínics also specialised in the management of clinically and/or socially complex situations, including multidrug-resistant tuberculosis.
2006–2015. Innovation and evolution of the healthcare model
In 2006, the Stop TB strategy expanded the focus of DOTS by incorporating person-centered care. Subsequently, in 2015, the End TB strategy reinforced the role of research, innovation and support policies, areas that Clinical Services has progressively integrated into its activity.
Activities
Currently, we continue to work in close coordination with tuberculosis programs and the different health and social professionals to guarantee adherence to treatment, early detection of potential complications and offer a comprehensive response to the needs of each person, always under criteria of quality, efficacy and efficiency.
Purpose, vision and values
At Serveis Clínics, we offer comprehensive, person-centered biopsychosocial care that responds to both clinical needs and social factors that can influence the recovery process and the quality of life of the people we serve.
Our identity is built on a clear purpose, a shared vision of the future and values that guide our way of working. These principles reflect our commitment to quality care, equity, collaborative work and human treatment, and encourage us to actively contribute to public health and the fight against tuberculosis.
